HOUSE RULES

The following few paragraphs detail the code of conduct for all players, Crew and the refs on SINtax. Most are common sense, but to avoid any problems it is better if they are written down. The rules are there for safety, to ensure our insurance continues to cover us and to make sure everyone has a good time. Breaches of these will not be tolerated....
We’d like to thank Roo for allowing us to shamelessly crib these from Distant Vista. These rules will form the backbone of every SINtax game from now on and you should read these rules carefully and abide by them.

EXPECTATIONS

We thought a few words on what the players and crew can expect, and conversely, what we expect from the players and crew, might save a whole lot of heartache later.

i)          PLAYER EXPECTATIONS

You can expect us to run the game, and to do our best to make it enjoyable for all. We will provide information regarding the world and your place in it, what you have been doing between games and we will answer any reasonable questions you have before during or after a game, time permitting. The information may take the form of a written or verbal brief or series of answers. Although we have tried to provide everyone with a written brief for the first game, it is highly unlikely that everyone will get an individually written brief for each game, so please don’t expect it. You can expect us to do our level best to ref the game fairly, safely and within the rules.

We will send out two flyers in advance of the game. We won’t pester you if you choose not to come on a game. If you say you aren’t coming, fine. We don’t need excuses or reasons, your lives are your own.

ii)          CREW EXPECTATIONS

You can expect information on what you’re doing and what you’ll need for the game. In terms of props/costume required, we’ll let you know at least 2 weeks before the game (unless something comes up unexpectedly). Your info on what’s going on will be either verbal or written and may come either before the game (for bigger parts), or on the day (for monsters/small parts). You can expect us to split the parts as evenly as we can. We will listen to any ideas, but please understand if we are busy and need to defer our chat until later. We will not shout out of character at anyone for making a mistake to do with the plot/characters etc; we will shout about aberrant behaviour.

If you don't think you have enough information to play the role we have given to you, please let us know as soon as possible after you have got your brief. We can't fix things if you tell us three quarters of the way through the event, or if you go off in a huff because you don't have enough info. We're not mind readers and we will be incredibly busy answering ref calls and dealing with players and other crew alike. We always make sure we have a few spare roles in case one NPC gets killed or if a crew member isn't having a good time in the role they have been given.

iii)      REF EXPECTATIONS

We expect Players, Crew and anybody else involved in SINtax to be polite and reasonable where the rest of the ‘cast’ are concerned. We don’t need anybody yelling at us, telling us it’s not fair or whining about stuff beyond our control. We expect everyone to pay attention to ref calls, safety calls and site rules. If you ask us for a ref call, it should be taken in good grace. If you disagree, then reasonably state why. The ref’s word is final. If you get a ref call you don’t like from one ref, please do not go to the other ref hoping for a different ref call, we WILL find out and this behaviour will be noted.

We all know that from time to time the best of us have to muck in and play spod combat parts. We expect everyone crewing to realise this and to take these roles with good grace. We will work our crew hard but we will do our utmost to ensure that they have just as good a time as the players do.

We expect people to pay for the game before the game starts. We expect any relevant character actions to be sent to us by the requested date, or else we expect people to accept that they don’t get a brief/to do anything between games.

If you hate the game, we expect you not to come again. Please don’t throw money away, stress out yourself and us by ‘sticking at it’ if you think it sucks. Suggestions and ideas are welcome. If you’re certain you can do constructive criticism then go for it, but if we think it’s just whining or worse, we will ignore you.

We ‘d like people to have fun. That includes us.

THE RULES

1) No unlawful substances on site. This is standard TTSNB policy, to protect you, us and everyone else. We catch you doing something that isn't alcohol, fags, caffeine or YOUR prescription medication, then you are off site and WILL not be invited back to any SINtax game. There will be NO exceptions.

If you argue, you WILL be reported to the Police.

2) Don't get hammered. Anybody the ref deems to be too inebriated to be safe, or who is acting in a dangerous manner and refuses to stop will be sent to bed. If they refuse, they will be kicked out.  Repeat offenders will not be welcome at future games.

3) Please repect the other people taking part. This means no violent physical contact. This means no contact at all if the person, out of character, requests you to stop it. If someone out of game wants to be left alone, please respect this wish. If you want to take a breather from what’s going on, just make the time out sign and go and sit somewhere quiet.

This also means that you should refrain from any inappropriate contact. Just because Crew Member A might be playing a 'person of easy virtue' it does not mean they are coming on to you in real life. Make sure you are aware of the divide between game and real life.

4) Respect the Ref. If you ask us for a ref call, We’ll do our best to answer it as soon as possible. Please be patient. Please obey ref calls without arguing. If you need clarification, ask for it.

5) Man Down is an out of game call, meaning someone has been hurt for real. The game will stop, the lights will go up and the nearest first aider will move to assist the injured party. Please don't use 'Man Down' as an in game call.

6) Don't take anything that doesn't belong to you. We don't want a repeat of the first event where a couple of people decided to help themselves to alcohol belonging to other people, without first obtaining their permission.
